Welcome to GWI Network

Where Hudson Valley community members committed to Just Transition connect and collaborate.

About Us

More and more of us are reconnecting to our hearts, to our communities, and to the earth, and committing to building a future that works for all.

The Good Work Institute exists to cultivate, connect, support, and illuminate a network of people and initiatives working towards Just Transition in the Mahicantuk (Hudson) valley.  To that end, we offer those seeking to be engaged change agents in our region tools, trainings, supports, and connections to deepen and expand their Good Work.

Our work is guided by these five Just Transition principles:

  • Advancing ecological repair

  • Democratizing communities, wealth, and work

  • Driving racial justice and social equity

  • Retaining and restoring cultural diversity

  • Relocalizing economic power

Why You Should Join Us

The GWI Network is a community of people working towards Just Transition in the Mahicantuk (Hudson) valley. Building on the dynamic group of nearly 200 local change-makers who participated in our Fellowship program, the Network is a place for people to meet, collaborate, and support each other’s Good Work. We offer ways to connect, both online and in person, through potlucks, book clubs, discussions, films, case studies, communities of practice, intentional relationship weaving, and this supportive online platform.

A Big Thanks

We are so grateful for the contributions from you and our community. The work of our Fellows over six successive fellowships, the time you have given to GWI to organize events and workshops, the food you have cooked, and the advice you have given, it has all served as the fertile earth that has allowed this work to take root. We have been lucky that our founding donors gave us the space to build our work freely, and are grateful to the growing base of community members whose contributions allow us to be responsive to your vision for what we should be.
